Birth Trauma

HomeWelcomeJan 23, 2009
Hi

Welcome to the Birth Trauma Group!

We are Jo and Debbie, your managers. We both had difficult and traumatic births with our children and were appalled to realise how little support there is for women out there in the same position.

Many women suffer trauma as the result of childbirth and some actually go on to develop Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. This can be a very debilitating and isolating experience because it can be difficult for other people to understand what you are going through.

Debbie is in the process of trying to set up a national group to campaign on these issues and support other women (see the Birth Trauma Association link on the left), but we thought a place to chat and support each other would be a good start.

We hope to offer the following on this board:
  • Somewhere to share your experiences. Please see our birth boards on the left. If they do not fit your situation let us know.
  • Somewhere to get suggestions and help from women who have been through a similar trauma
  • Somewhere to access information about birth and trauma in the form of articles and website - see 'Links' and 'Documents' on the left
  • Somewhere to chat in an environment where you won't be judged. We hope to make you feel supported and among friends
Your ideas for extra features on these boards would be very welcome and we'd love to meet you at our chat time

Best wishes

Debbie and Jo
